GALLERY STAND OUTS May 20, 2013

poki here with the results of my gallery search this week in Digital Designs by Amber Morrison DESIGNER GALLERY at The Digi Chick.  Amber added a special template pack to her store this week, called CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS: HAILEY - all the template designs in this kit were inspired by layouts in one of Amber's CT members, Hailey.

They seem to be well received, because lots of layouts showed up in the gallery this week using this template pack ... I picked three to show you here, all with different templates from the pack.

Here is one using  template 1 ... the layout was created by IntenseMagic - the background paper with the circles creates a great illusion of movement on this page, just like the dance that inspired the photo and the page!  The layout also features Polka Dot Pixels NEEDFUL THINGS, new at The Digi Chick.

Next up is a layout featuring template 3 (flipped I think!)  created by modgee - I love her big blended photo, and the whimsical cluster she created for this cute photo!  The layout also features kit by EnKay Design A BREATH OF FRESH AIR available at The Digi Chick.

Next up is a layout based on template 2, created by fruitysuet . She made a great kit choice to compliment her vintage black and white photo.  Kit:  Polka Dot Pixels NEEDFUL THINGS available at The Digi Chick.

Be sure to stop by the DESIGNER GALLERY and check out all the beautiful layouts there ... and then visit Amber's store for some digital inspiration.  You will find more CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS coming soon to the store... (just saying!)  Til next time ~poki

I saw it on Pinterest

Kari here with a fun tidbit I saw on Pinterest.  Do you Pin?  I Pin waaaay too much.  Biggest time suck I ever found.  But I find all kinds of things I want to try!  Like this dump cake recipe.  I saw the picture & thought it looked really really good.  Then my best friend (Kerry - no I don't have conversations with myself  lol) told me she tried it with cherry pie filling (I think) and she said it was to die for.  OK, if Kerry says it's good, it has to be!
Doesn't it look good?!  2 ingredients.  Angel food cake and a can of fruit pie filling.  Mix and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.  Um, we were a little excited to get into it, so I um, kinda forgot to take a picture before.  lol

Yeah, this was after 1 serving.  I have boys, what can I say!  You can't really see the fruit, but it's there.  And it was GOOD.  That plate with the one serving on it?  Yeah, that's all I got out of it.  Making me hungry just thinking about it.  Have you found any amazing, yummy, fun, time saving, or just plain out awesome things on Pinterest?  Link us up!!  We'd love to see what you've found.  Til next time!

Digi Tip - Creating a contracted stroke outline

Hi! Sharon here today to share a digi tip using PSE.  Here's a layout I was creating using Amber's The Sky is the Limit template:

I felt like the picture needed to stand out a little more and wanted it to mimic the bricks of the paper, but didn't want to do the same old stroke outline or border.  So, I...
~Selected the photo layer and hit Ctrl+Click (mac: Command+Click) and get marching ants around the photo.
~Go to select/modify/contract:
~For this photo I contracted 25 pixels, but it's personal preference how much you want to contract on your photo
~Then create a new layer above the photo:
~With the new layer selected, go to edit/stroke (outline) selection
~This is where you will decide how many pixels you want your outline to be, what color, and location of outline:
~I chose 10 pixels, the white color from the ribbons on my layout, and inside location.
Here's my final layout using this technique:

I think this subtle touch helps draw your eye to the photo.  I hope that you try this technique on your next layout!
Hope you have a fabulous day!
